While Delhi University selects students on the basis of merit, you can apply to get in through the entrance test. Most other universities require at least 50-55 per cent marks in B.Sc for admission to the M.Sc physics programmes. Some of the other universities in Delhi offering M.Sc programmes in physics include Jawaharlal Nehru University (www.jnu.ac.in) and Jamia Millia Islamia (www.jmi.nic.in). They require a Bachelor’s degree (with physics as one of the subjects) under the 10+2+3 pattern with at least 55 per cent marks in aggregate (or in physics, chemistry and maths), or in physics honours. Other universities near Delhi include Punjab University, Chandigarh, which offers biophysics; Guru Jambheshwar University, Hissar, which offers M.Sc in applied physics; and Kurukshetra University which offers M.Sc in atmospheric sciences.
