If you wish to get into research then you can look into areas such as data analysis, survey researcher, project manager and so on. Besides this, one can get jobs in government organisations as personnel coordinator, community affairs officer, Foreign Service officer, Human Rights Officer and so on. Qualified sociologists are also considered for jobs as probation officers in various child welfare departments and they can be placed in charge of juvenile homes or observation cells.
International bodies such as World Health Organisation and United Nations Organisation sometimes advertise projects wherein the services of people with knowledge of sociology are required. Social Welfare Departments of State governments also carry out research projects for which sociologists are required. Organisations concerned with planning of policies for specific sections of society like commissions for women, children, etc., offer ample opportunities for those who are highly qualified in sociology.
