Genetic engineering deals with the study of genes which reveals information preserved in DNA and which has been accumulated through evolution. The study of applied genetics has enabled biochemists to actually develop several processes and products that benefit mankind, like use of finger printing in forensic science. There is a great scope in this field as the demand for genetic engineers are growing in India as well as abroad.

Genetic engineers almost always work in laboratories. A genetic engineer makes use of various techniques and applications to modify the genetic material of living organism. You can get jobs in private corporations, particularly pharmaceutical companies and government sector. You also may teach in universities and/or conduct research.
