Options are plentiful for a Chemistry graduate. You can study further if interested. IISc Bangalore offers good learning facilities to first class B.Sc. degree holders in chemistry who wish to pursue advanced research leading to Ph.D. The Satyendra Nath Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences, Kolkata offers an integrated Ph.D. programme in chemical sciences. TIFR in Mumbai, provides excellent research opportunities in the subject. The IITs admit students toM.Sc. programmes in chemistry through a Joint Admission Test (JAM). The IITs in Chennai, Mumbai, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur and Roorkee offers such programmes. IIT Khargpur offers an M.Sc.-Ph.D. dual degree course in chemistry.
But if you are looking at career opportunities you will find a lot of options in research and development institutions and industries related to textiles, petroleum products, rubber and plastic products, cosmetics, drugs and fertilizers. Those with a Ph.D. can also get job as chemist, scientific officer or scientist in chemical laboratories.
