it is not that you have to re-appear again for your Board exams to appear for IIT JEE 2012. But yes, the pattern has changed for IIT JEE 2013. According to the new IIT JEE 2013 format, your score needs to be in the top 20 percentile of your Board exams to be able to sit for the IIT JEE (Main) exam.

The IIT JEE format is still being refined and as of now, on the basis of the information let out by the HRD Ministry & IIT Council, there will be two stages of the IIT JEE entrance exam – IIT JEE (Main) and IIT JEE (Advanced). All students can appear for the Main paper, but to be eligible for the Advanced paper, you will need to score in the top 20 percentile of your respective Board exam. They have not announced anything for drop year students as of now. But keep checking our site and we will update you on the latest developments.
