Since, you have completed your master’s degree in English; you are eligible for doctoral degree (Ph.D) in the same field. 

A Ph.D program in English generally prepares you for teaching and research oriented career as an English professor for a college or university. Research scholars are usually required to choose a specialization within the degree program, such as literary theory, professional writing, rhetoric, linguistic or the study of a specific group or a major period of literature.

Eligibility: You should have secured minimum 55% marks in master’s degree from any recognised university.
