Dear student,

You need to first decide what you want to do as a career option. If you want to get into academics, you can start immediately after B. Ed and NET exam as stated below.

A Ph.D program in English generally prepares you for teaching and research oriented career as an English professor for a college or university. Research scholars are usually required to choose a specialization within the degree program, such as literary theory, professional writing, rhetoric, linguistic or the study of a specific group or a major period of literature.

On the other hand, Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) is an undergraduate course for those students who want to become a primary school teacher. It is a course of 1 year duration. After completion of B.Ed, you can appear for National Eligibility Test (NET) to qualify for the post of professor in college/university.

You can select any of these courses as per your preferences.
