You can also apply for M.Tech course without GATE exam. There are ways to get into IITs and NITs without GATE scores too. They conduct their own exam for admission. You can apply and try to get admission for Master of Engineering. Most of the State Universities and central universities don't require GATE scores rather they conduct their own written test and personal interview, and these are also good institutions.

However, you can apply for GATE 2013 if you want to take admission through GATE exam, meanwhile, you can do preparation for GATE exam.
You can get jobs in private and government firms/companies according to your engineering specialisation in which you have done your B.Tech. You may get wide range of career options in Defense services, Aviation industry, etc.
