After doing a basic program in Hardware and Networking, now is the time for you to focus on some specialization. Becoming a specialist increases increases your probability for getting better paying jobs. You can focus specialization on different tracks – within Microsoft track, you can go in for a MCITP – EA this program is on the Server 2008. Select institutes are offering this program and you can check on them. There are also courses on Storage either or EMC of Symantec or on Virtualisation – VMWare or Citrix that you can look at. You should also look at how you fare on communication skills. This is the last mile which besides functional skills is a very big decider on the company deciding on a candidate. A good check on where you stand can be achieved by taking an employability assessment and if there is a gap then you can bridge this gap as well.
