You can apply for admission in M.A. English program in most universities if you have studied English as one of your subjects in graduation. Some universities like Delhi University provide direct admission to students who have completed BA English, and require an entrance test for students from other disciplines. After BE you would need to qualify in the entrance test for admission to MA English.  The entrance test is designed to test your proficiency in the English language, comprehension and writing skills and knowledge of English literature. It normally includes a character sketch, a book review, an essay, comprehension passage, story writing based on pictures/ cues, questions based on current affairs or general knowledge. You should have healthy knowledge of English classics, current affairs, author information (authors that are making news and best selling). You should read at least 5-10 of the Top 100 New York best sellers. You also need to be good at English grammar as the course requires a lot of writing and good expression skills.
