While most are PG programmes, there are some online and distance-mode certification courses you can take up in computing, accounting, business, finance and so on. These include the accounting certifications from ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants), and the chartered financial analysis (CFA) programme, if you are looking for a career in accounting and finance. The National Institute of Securities Markets (www.nism.ac.in), an initiative of the Securities and Exchange Board of India, has started offering several financial certifications. The stock exchange, too, conducts short courses like a basic course on stock markets, derivatives, mutual funds, etc. You can pick from the list and take these courses at a nominal cost. A few courses are followed by certifications, which is optional. If you complete the certification as well, it adds value to your resume. In addition, depending on your career choice, you can enrol for courses leading up to qualifications such as company secretary, CFA, cost and works accountant and so on, which are offered through postal tuition by the respective institutes.
