Dear student,

The IIT-JEE (Joint Entrance Examination) will undergo major changes from 2013 with the aim of reducing stress on engineering college aspirants.

The new pattern of IIT-JEE would include conducting an aptitude test for the exam aspirants. The students will have to crack this aptitude test consisting of questions based on reasoning and all other subjects that the students have studied in their schools. The aptitude test would also include questions related to subjects like Physics, Chemistry and Maths.

The students will now have to take the test that will be conducted in two parts on the same day — JEE-main and JEE-advanced. The merit list would be prepared on the basis of a collective score of normalised school board marks and performance in the IIT-JEE-main examination. The ranking for admission to undergraduate programmes in IITs (Indian Institute of Technology) would be based on the screened student’s performance in the JEE-advanced examination.

Admission to other centrally-funded technical institutions such as NITs (National Institute of Technology) and IITs would be based on ranking derived from 40% weightage to normalised Class 12 board marks, 30% weightage to performance in JEE-main and 30% weightage for performance in JEE-advanced.
