Hi,

AICTE had announced CMAT to replace state level entrance examination for management schools to reduce stress on students. GCET (Gujarat Common Entrance Test) is conducted by the GTU (Gujarat Technological University) for admissions into MBA and MCA courses in the state.

The decision of the state government was based upon the fact that CMAT was applicable only to the students applying for the MBA course and not the MCA course. Hence the GTU would have to conduct GCET any way for admissions into MCA course, probably the state may adopt CMAT from the next year 2012.

For the 2012-13 academic sessions every institution will have the option of using the CMAT as their entrance eligibility criteria. Because now we have other exams as well including the states own entrance exam.

The decision is not still confirm by the officials on whether the CMAT score will be accepted all over the country. You can keep checking Campuswalkin, articles section for the latest updates.
