MBA degree is usually awarded by universities (like Delhi University, Pune University, Bombay University etc), whereas a PGDM degree can be awarded by colleges (like Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies in Mumbai, SP Jain Mumbai or MDI Gurgaon). If you are interested in pursuing higher education (like a Ph. D), then you should go for an MBA degree. However, if you find yourself in a dilemma of whether to choose MBA or PGDM, then choose a college whose reputation is better. If you have an option of a PGDM from a reputed school (as mentioned above) and an MBA from not-so-reputed school, then choose former. And if you have an option of PGDM or MBA from not so reputed schools, choose MBA over PGDM.
