The UGC-NET is conducted in major science subjects, viz. Chemical sciences; Earth Atmospheric Ocean & Planetary Sciences; Life sciences; Mathematical Sciences and Physical Sciences. This is conducted jointly with the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research(CSIR), New Delhi. UGC conducts NET twice a year, i.e., in the months of June and December.
