There are only a few institutes offering specialised courses in mushroom cultivation. National Research Centre for Mushroom, Solan, Himachal Pradesh, conducts short-term programmes in this field for entrepreneurs / personnel from mushroom farms. The training unit of the GB Pant University of Agriculture & Technologys Directorate of Extension through Krishi Vigyan Kendra, organises short and medium-term training courses at Pantnagar to generate self-employment opportunities in farming such as mushroom production. Fergusson College, Pune, provides a four-week course in mushroom cultivation. In addition, Annamalai University, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University and Dr B R Ambedkar Open University, Hyderabad, run certificate courses in mushroom cultivation through distance-learning.
