Hi Saumya, Masters in Social Work (MSW) is a post graduate degree. With it, you can choose from a range of social work that you can do. You can affiliate yourself with a government run organisation or work with an NGO that supports your cause.
Some of the causes that you can work for are listed here - work in a hospital setting to assist medical personnel in gaining insights into the social, economic, and psychological situations of patients, as well as help in their treatment and discharge planning, counsel people with psychiatric, emotional, and personality disorders in mental health clinics or other clinical settings; prepare and implement community-wide action plans to respond to various social problems; work with young offenders in juvenile courts, youth outreach programs, and prisons; help abused, neglected, and/or foster children with their reintegration into the community; provide services to the elderly in hospital settings, geriatric psychiatric units, day treatment and/or day care programs and other community settings; counsel individuals, couples, and families with personal problems in private practice settings (license required); assist victims of rape, spouse abuse, and other forms of domestic violence; help in the rehabilitation of drug and alcohol abusers through counseling, group treatment, and social support and provide testing and evaluation in the school system for children with ADD and ADHD.
