In layman language biotechnology integrates biology or science of living cells with technology. It’s an interdisciplinary science and also encompasses study of mathematics, physics, chemistry, engineering, virology, agriculture, animal husbandry, food sciences and soil science, besides biology. The field is research oriented; it introduced methods for genetic engineering - the most commonly known result is Dolly, the cloned lamb. A career in biotechnology relates to research and development, clinical research, production and quality control, and patent administration. The concept behind biotechnology is to improvise upon a particular product while applying various technologies on it.

Pharmacists play various roles: Dispensing medicines at retail outlets or in hospitals, inventing new medicines, imparting quality education to students, depending on the field of work. Pharmacy is a noble profession that helps us understand the mechanism of disease and how to cure it - providing options.
