Hi Payal, its all about passion I guess!! A career on computer animation is a tough job and you cannot learn it overnight. Also, you can never really stop learning it because the technology in this field advances daily. But at the end of it, it is enjoyable, rewarding and fulfilling. Yes, as you said, one cannot pass out an animation school and get a high-paying job (happens rarely). Usually all animators start in an entry-level position doing minor, repetitive tasks that may or may not appeal to them. Do realize that animation is not a single-person process; it is a collaborative effort by a team of specialists headed by one or more directors.

Animation is a field where experience counts and is greatly revered. Our tips to an animation enthusiast will be to never limit themselves to a specific job description or position, because there are too many opportunities out there. An internship or entry-level position in your general area of expertise is a good way to lead in to the job that you really want, and will give you a broader range of experience that will make you more valuable to employers down the line; also, when applying for entry-level positions without any prior experience, you're more likely to be considered for an interview. A career in computer animation isn't just a job; it's a learning process, and one that provides new chances for exploration every day. The opportunities are out there; now it's up to you to make the best of them.
