NASA is not just the place for engineers to work. A person from a Management, Finance, Geography or Science background can work for NASA. It all depends on the talent of a person. Earning a degree from IITs is not a certificate to reach NASA.

It is up to your son to choose the subject of his choice and make sure that he excels in whatever he chooses. If your Son is not good in PCM then there is no point of him taking up Science stream. It's better that he does what he is good at whether it's Commerce or Humanities both can take him to NASA. 

Also, thinking about money at a tender age is not advisable for your son. If a person is not satisfied with the work he does then no money can bring the satisfaction. It is better to do what one likes. Tell him to focus on the subject he likes and do wonders for himself and you.
