The best job prospects for you in statistics will be after you acquire post graduate degree. Job opportunities are limited with just a B.Sc degree. Almost every university offers M.Sc statistics. Once you have completed your post graduation you can pursue your career in any of the following fields of pure mathematics, pure statistics, computer science, physical sciences, engineering or other related fields such as insurance, banking and accountancy.

A M.Sc in Statistics prepares you to work in industry in Market Research, Financial Analysis and Capital Markets and Actuarial Services. Among these, Finance best leverages your skills as a Statistician. Investment Banking, Equity Research and Treasury jobs would be extremely suitable followed by Accounting and Corporate Finance.

To further stream line your career options you can even acquire skills in SAS (statistical accounting software). A qualification in SAS trains one for a role in the Business Intelligence space where three types of career choices are available- Careers in development of BI tools & platform, and BI business applications (Industry neutral or Industry Specific) ; BI consulting and in BI operations. The first category of careers is offered by players engaged in the development of products in BI space. However, we generally recommend that when you choose a specialisation, you should give more weightage to your interests and talents. That is, pick a field that you enjoy studying and doing projects in and specialise in that.
