Paint Technology is the discipline in which one studies about the various ingredients - resin, polymers, pigments, etc - that are used in making paint. You will also study combination processes, manufacturing of paints, techniques used for the application of paints; you will learn to develop new products and new techniques for application of paints. A Paint Technologist is required in different departments of the paint industry. They work in the research development department, production department, manufacturing department, technical service or marketing department and paint application department.
Harcourt Butler Technological Institute, Kanpur has been in the field of Science and Technology since 1921. As per Current Science (Vol. 97, No. 3, 10 August 2009) rankings the institute was ranked 17 among the top 30 Indian Engineering and Technological Institutes of India. The Paints technology department is the oldest department established at HBTI.
After completing the course you will be able to find employment in home furnishing industries, or industries which are into the manufacturing of raw materials used in the manufacture of paints, and other allied industries like pigment or extender manufacturers, resin suppliers, polymer suppliers or additive suppliers.
