Prospects - Food technologists mainly find jobs in hotels, food industries, in quality control, hospitals, packaging, industries, distilleries, soft drink factories and rice mills, etc. Their expertise is also used by manufacturing industries in monitoring the storage, processing, hygiene temperatures and experimenting etc. There are attractive openings for food technologists at the managerial levels for professionals from varied fields, viz. Industrial Production Managers are required to control the operation of the manufacturing plants, Marketing and Sales personnel are required for sales promotion and marketing etc. Food technologists work in research laboratories or on production lines to develop new products, test current ones, and control the overall food quality.
