New pattern will be 2-tier, with JEE Main and JEE Advanced. JEE Main will be an objective PCM exam. A specific number of toppers of JEE main will be eligible to appear for JEE advanced. The pattern of JEE advanced maybe subjective (its not final yet). For admission to IITs, students must be in the top 20 percentile bracket of their respective boards. That is even if they score top ranks in JEE Advanced, but are not in the top 20 percentile of their boards then they won't be eligible for IITs. The pattern for NITs is different.
