Home > Discussion > What is the right time to start preparing for IAS Mains??
Hi,
All India Combined Competitive Examination for the Civil Services conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC)
It comprises of two successive stages – preliminary (objective type qualifying exam) and main exam (written & interview).
Preliminary examination is a qualifying objective type examination, only the candidates who clear this can appear for the next stage called the Main examination.
Main examination is a very intensive subjective type examination in which each candidate has to select two optional subjects, apart from which all candidates have to take a General Studies, Essay and compulsory language exam.
There are no standard timings to prepare for IAS. Its better you start preparation for IAS Exam as early as you can, because you should have strong preparation to get good score in CSAT Exam and Main Exam to compete in the third and final stage of exam called the Viva or the Interview. A shortlist is prepared on the basis of the Main examination.
Good Luck!!!
