Home > Discussion > what was the cutoff for cat, xat, fms, iift and snap in 2011 plz reply!
Just like for financial investments, where the advice is that ‘past performance is no indicator of future profitability/ performance, so are the cut-offs for the previous year not an indicator of this year’s cut-offs. The cut-offs depend on the difficulty level of the paper in a particular year and the sectional cut-offs have been known to vary considerably.
Keep in mind that the CAT pattern for this year is likely to undergo a change, with their being two sections instead of three.
The minimum cut-offs for CAT are generally mentioned in the CAT prospectus and I suggest you have a look at that as they vary from IIM to IIM. For IIM Calcutta, it was as follows:
Shortlisting Criteria for PGDM
For a General category candidate, the overall CAT 2010 cut off: 99.59 percentile.
Sectional cut offs:
-- 80 out of 150 or 93.38 percentile for Quantitative Ability
-- 79 out of 150 or 93.36 percentile for Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning section
-- 79 out of 150 or 93.33 percentile for Verbal Ability section.
For IIFT 2010
IIFT 2010 was held on November 28, 2010. Number of questions: 135. The duration of the paper was two hours. There were four sections, which were Quantitative Ability, Verbal Ability, Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning and General Awareness. The overall cut off was estimated at 39+ for IIFT Delhi and 33+ for IIFT Kolkata.
