Working in the Travel and Tourism industry is all about making traveling an enriching and enjoyable experience for every individual by providing quality services. Employment opportunities exist in both the public and the private sector in this industry. In the public sector, you can work in the Directorates and Departments of tourism of the centre and the state, guides etc. In the private sector, on the other hand you can secure a job in a travel agency, hotel, airline, transport agency or a cargo company.

Numerous institutes across the country are now offering specialized courses which focus on airline ticketing, computerized reservations, air/bus/railway/cargo fare construction. The Indian Institute of Travel and Tourism Management, Delhi with its regional chapters in several others cities, as well as some private travel agencies such as Kuoni Academy and others provide several training programmes, from short-term to 1-2 year diploma courses. Kurukshetra University offers a Master’s course in Tourism Administration. It is also possible to study tourism through correspondence. However, most courses require graduation in any discipline.
