Hi Pankaj Although there might be some disadvantages of studying through distance learning but the advantages certainly outweigh the disadvantages.
 • Flexibility is the biggest advantage of distance learning courses. This stands true especially if you are a working professional. Not everyone has the luxury of taking their own time to finish their studies. For those who might have had to take a break from studies to start working, such courses are a boon and provide the opportunity to pursue higher education.
 • You save up a lot of time and energy on commuting. You can stay in Pune and pursue a course that is available in Bangalore. Or you might be based out of a remote village or town which does not have enough options for higher studies. Distance learning courses eliminate these obstacles.
• Not everyone has the same pace of learning. Some pick up things fast, others need time to grasp a concept. One of the biggest advantages of distance learning is that you can study at a pace that is comfortable.
• These courses are almost always cheaper as compared to their on-campus counter-parts. You also cut down on the costs incurred while commuting etc

 Some universities/institutes that offer various 1-year, 2-year Diploma/Degree Management programmes in India:
1) 2-Year Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management from NMIMS (Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies ). They offer PGDBM, PGDMM, PGDFM, PGDHRM. They have an entrance test even for their distance education proramme. Enrolments to these programs are done twice in a year.
2) 2-Year Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management from SCDL (Symbiosis Center for Distance Learning). They offer PGDBM, PGDMM, PGDFM, PGDHRM. Enrolments to these programmes can be done only once a year.
3) Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) offers the following Degree/ Diploma Programmes in Management: Master of Business Administration (MBA), Diploma in Management (DIM), Post-Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDIM), Post Graduate Diploma in Human Resource Management (PGDHRM), Post-Graduate Diploma in Financial Management (PGDFM), Post-Graduate Diploma in Operations Management (PGDOM) and Post-Graduate Diploma in Marketing Management. IGNOU provides these degrees/diplomas through an entrance test ‘OPENMAT’. But those who have successfully cleared the entrance test for admission into Management Programme conducted by institutions like CAT, MAT and State level tests need not appear in OPENMAT.
