CEED 2018 will be conducted on January 20, 2020 (Saturday) from 10.00 am to 1.00 pm. CEED is a common entrance exam for design conducted by IIT Bombay on behalf of Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India. This national level exam is a qualifying exam to get admission in Master of Design (M.Des.) programme at IISc Bangalore, IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad and IIT Kanpur, and PhD programmes in Design at some institutes. CEED 2018 will be conducted in January, scores of which will be used by the authorities to choose deserving candidates for M.Des course at top engineering colleges in India.
CEED 2018 exam will be divided into two parts i.e. Part A which is an online segment contains three sections and Part B containing 5 questions, which have to be answered in the answer book provided by the invigilator.

Candidates applying for CEED 2018 exam must satisfy the eligibility criteria. There are certain conditions mentioned in the information bulletin stating about the requirements to be eligible to fill CEED 2018 application form.
Given below are conditions you need to fulfill to meet CEED 2018 eligibility criteria:
NOTE: Candidates having 3 years’ Bachelor’s degree are not eligible for CEED 2018 examination.
CEED 2018 application form will be released in the month of October 2020. Aspirants need to fill the online application form before the last date to avoid any chances of getting their application rejected or paying any fine. Aspirants planning to appear in CEED 2018 exam must go through the form filling guidelines and follow each step carefully to avoid any mistakes.
To fill CEED 2018 application form, candidates are required to visit the official website of CEED. Applicants need to register themselves for CEED 2018 by providing a valid email ID and mobile number for further communications. Candidates provide email ID which they use regularly.
After completing the registration confirmation page, a validating email will be sent to the registered email ID, and a password will be sent to the registered mobile number, which candidates need to complete the registration process. Same email ID and password will be used for further communication like downloading admit card, checking result etc. through the official website
After registration, candidates are required to log into the website to get the online application form. Aspirants will need to fill all the required details related to their age, qualification etc. and proceed to Fee Payment page.
Stepwise CEED Application Form filling process:

4. Upload important documents including recent passport size photograph, scanned copy of signature, scanned copy of degree/ diploma certificate, category certificate for SC/ ST/ OBC NCL categories
5. Pay application fee
6. Take a printout of CEED application form 2018
Online application process will be considered complete only when candidates pay CEED 2018 application fees. Applicants can use Internet Banking, Credit Card or Debit Card through Bill Desk application payment. After completion of the payment, students will get a confirmation page which can be kept for the students’ own reference.

As CEED 2018 will be conducted in two parts, the syllabus has also been divided in two parts. CEED 2018 syllabus for Part A will have questions related to below-given topics:
Visualization and spatial ability: Pictorial and diagrammatic questions will be asked to test the understanding of transformation and / or manipulation of 2D shapes and 3D objects and their spatial relationships.
Environmental and social awareness: General awareness of environmental factors such as climate, population, water, vegetation, pollution, weather, natural resources etc., and their implications on the design of products, images, infrastructure and environment will be evaluated through questions on environmental and social awareness topics. Apart from this, awareness of design terminologies, social and cultural connection with design, history of the designed artefact, and socially responsible and environmentally sustainable design responses will also be evaluated. History of art, sculpture and literature will also be covered through different questions.
Analytical and logical reasoning: The objective of this section is to check the ability to analyse given information logically and select the most appropriate solutions along with ability to weigh opinions, arguments or solutions against appropriate criteria. Candidates will also be judged on the ability to use logic and structured thinking to deduce from a short passage, which of a number of statements is the most accurate response to a posed question.
Language and creativity: To check ability to understand passages in commonly used English language along with the ability to think creatively in terms of alternatives, ability to distinguish innovative options and think out of the box will be the objective of this section.
Design thinking and problem solving: Candidates’ ability to understand the context, the users and the constraints and select the most appropriate solution for a given design problem will be tested by asking design thinking and problem-solving questions.
Observation and design sensitivity: Ability to detect concealed properties in day to day life and think critically about them. Ability to discern subtle differences in visual properties and aesthetic outcomes
Part B
· Drawing: Ability to draw products, people or scenes in proportion with good line quality, composition, proportion, perspective, and shading.
· Creativity: Ability to think out of the box and come up with unique as well as diverse solutions.
· Communication skills: Ability to communicate concepts and ideas clearly with the help of text and visuals.
· Analytical and problem solving skills: Ability to understand the user and the context, knowledge of properties of materials and process and their appropriate 12 use in design, originality of solutions, ability to create characters, plots and stories, etc
CEED 2018 will be conducted at 20 cities across India. Candidates compulsorily need to choose 3 cities in the order of their preference while filling the online application form. There is no option of changing the cities once the registration form is submitted. So Candidates should carefully choose 3 CEED 2018 examination centres while filling online application form. In case an exam centre doesn't have a sufficient number of candidates, the centre will be dropped from the list of CEED 2018 exam centres and the candidates will be provided a city of second or third choice.
