Institute of Banking Personnel Selection, Specialist Officer (IBPS SO) is a national level examination for recruitment of Specialist Officers (SO) in various public sector banks in India. It is conducted by IBPS every year. Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) is the autonomous body that conducts IBPS SO exam every year. The body conducts this exam every year at the behest of Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and Public Sector Banks. The major objective of the exam is to hire deserving and talented human resource via personal assessment. Candidates applying for IBPS SO 2018 exam need to take Preliminary and Main common written exams (CWE) followed by the personal interview. Candidates who clear both the preliminary and main exam will only qualify for the final round that is Interview by a selection panel.
IBPS SO is conducted online in two different examination pattern – examination pattern I for Law Officer Scale I/ RajbhashaAdhikariScale I and examination pattern II for IT Officer Scale I/Agricultural Field Officer Scale I/ HR or Personnel Officer Scale I/ Marketing Officer Scale I.

IBPS has set criteria for every post it conducts exam for. Be it PO, Clerk or SO, candidates need to meet some conditions like age, qualification, and experience to apply for the exam. Aspirants planning to apply for IBPS SO 2018 must check eligibility criteria and proceed further only when they meet every requirement.
Nationality:
· A citizen of India
· A subject of Nepal, Bhutan or a Tibetan Refugee, who came to India before January 1, 1962 with the objective to settle here
· Migrants of East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam
Candidates who want to apply for IBPS SO 2018 should be between 21 to 30 years of age. Candidates before November 2, 1987 and after November 1, 1997 do not qualify for the exam.

IBPS SO 2018 application forms will be released online in October 2020. Aspirants willing to join public sector banks at the post of Specialist Officer will be able to fill the online application forms after official notification of the same. As there is no option of submitting the application form in offline mode, candidates should go through the form filling process guidelines carefully.
Candidates interested in applying for the post of Specialist Officer in participating public sector banks should register themselves online for the Common Recruitment Process (CRP) conducted by IBPS on its official website. Applicants must fill in the application form by entering the required information and uploading scanned photograph and signature.
The application procedure will be completed with the payment of application fee. All candidates are advised to fill-in the application form before the last date.
Though official IBPS SO 2018 schedule hasn’t been released yet, tentative dates have been given. Candidates planning to apply for IBPS SO 2018 exam can check important dates in the table below:

Based on the CWE score, candidates will be shortlisted and called for an interview by the participating organisation in coordination with nodal banks and IBPS. The candidates will have to download the call letter from the official website of IBPS that will contain information regarding the centre, venue, date and time of interview.
The shortlisted candidates should carry the following original documents and their self-attested copies at the time of the interview. Without these documents, the candidates will not be allowed to appear for the interview.

IBPS SO 2018 syllabus will evaluate candidates on various sections including English, reasoning, general awareness, computer and quantitative aptitude. To ensure that you perform well in the exam, you should pay equal attention to every section and the topics covered under them. As IBPS SO is a subject based exam, candidates are expected to have an exhaustive knowledge of their subjects which is possible only when they are aware of the syllabus.
Apart from the normal topics from Reasoning, English, General Awareness and Quantitative Aptitude, candidates also need to have some professional knowledge.
IT Officer Scale I: Those who want to apply for IBPS Specialist Officer Exam need to prepare some topics from technical. The topics include:

Both IBPS SO prelim and main exam will be conducted at various examination centres decided across the country. Candidates will get the list of exam centres with the official IBPS SO 2018 notification. After checking the location and codes of the examination centres, candidates can indicate their preference of the center while filling IBPS SO 2018 application form. However, the final decision to allot an examination centre to the candidates will be of IBPS. If the centre opted by candidates gets filled or gets cancelled due to unavailability, the different centre will be allotted to them. Candidates can appear for the exam in the examination centre allotted to them. If they go to any other centre, they will not be given entry in the examination hall.
