National Talent Search Exam (NTSE) was started by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) in the year 1963 under the scheme called National Science Talent Search Scheme (NSTSS). Under this scheme scholarships used to be provided to the students based on their performance in the written exam, a project report and an interview. Keeping the changing educational system in the mind, the scheme was made open for X, XI and XII students through separate exams.
