Pedagogy

The teaching approach will be highly interactive and deploy diverse pedagogical tools and techniques including lectures, case studies, live corporate examples, and interactive discussions.

Learning Outcomes

Programme Delivery

Sessions will be conducted via a state-of-the-art Interactive Learning (IL) platform and delivered in Direct-to-Device (D2D) mode that can be accessed by learners on their Desktop, Laptop, Tablet, or Smartphone. Participants will be provided reading materials, etc., for each course. They may also interact with the concerned faculty through e-mails/chat mode. Medium of instruction for the programme is English.

Campus Immersion

  • There will be two campus immersions of five days each at IIM Calcutta, which will be scheduled towards the middle or end of the programme. One visit will be scheduled about a month after programme start and one visit towards the end of the programme. It is mandatory for participants to attend the campus visit for successful completion of the programme.
  • The campus visits will be conducted subject to the evolving pandemic situation and will depend on government and institute regulations, advisories, and guidelines related to the pandemic. In case the campus module is not confirmed due to any reason, the same will be included in the total number of online sessions.

  • The owners/scions of family-managed businesses
  • Senior Managers who report to the owners of the family-managed businesses

Eligibility Criteria

  • Bachelor’s degree (10+2+3 or 10+2+4) or equivalent; or two-year Master’s degree or its equivalent from institutions or universities recognised by UGC/AICTE/AIU/DEB
  • Must be an owner/scion of the family-managed business
  • Member of the top management who reports to the owner of the family-managed business. Also, he/she needs to have minimum 10 years of work experience*
  • Final selection will be done by IIM Calcutta

*Internships and trainee experiences will not be considered as full-time work experience.

Admission Criteria

The selection will be based on a candidate’s overall profile evaluation, educational qualification, allied experience, and Statement of Purpose, subject to meeting eligibility criteria.

Dr. Happy Paul

Prof. Saha teaches courses like Strategic Management, International Management, Managing Innovation, Corporate Social Irresponsibility, and Strategy as Practice: The Social and Political in Strategy Work, at IIM Calcutta. With a B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Kharagpur and a Ph.D. from IIM Calcutta, he has been involved in academics since 2001 – at VGSoM, IIT Kharagpur, XLRI Jamshedpur, and then at IIM Calcutta.



He has numerous publications in Indian and international journals and has won several awards in international case competitions like the Best Case Award in 'Dark Side Case Competition', Critical Management Studies Division, Academy of Management Meeting, 2016, for his case study, 'Compromised Livelihoods in Vapi: What Needs to Be Cleaned Up in the Armpit of India?' and Second Best Case in CEEMAN Emerald Case Competition 2016, for 'Mio Amore: Surviving a Brand-name Change in a Transition Economy'. Further, his research interests lie in post-colonial management studies, critical management studies, strategy practice, digital economy, and complexity.

Certificate and Assessment

  • Continuous evaluation components consists of class participation, case discussions, assignments, quiz, project presentations and final examination.
  • Examination/evaluation shall be conducted by IIM Calcutta. Examinations shall be conducted with the support of TEEL. Evaluation will be held for individual modules, but not for modules that are held on campus.
  • Participants will be given any one of the following grades: “Excellent”; “Good”; “Fair”; or “Poor.” The cut-off marks for the grades will be revealed but not the actual marks obtained.
  • Giving feedback is an integral part of the completion requirements of the programme.

Attendance Criteria

  • A minimum of 75% attendance is a prerequisite for the successful completion of the programme.
  • Participants with less than 75% attendance will not be permitted to appear for the exams.

Certification

  • Candidates who meet the minimum attendance criteria and do not receive 'Poor' grades in more than two courses will receive a 'Certificate of Completion' and the course-wise grades obtained will be mentioned in the certificate.
  • Candidates who meet the minimum attendance criteria but receive 'Poor' grades in more than two courses will receive a 'Certificate of Participation'. In such cases, the grade will not be mentioned in the certificate.
  • Successful participants will also be accorded IIM Calcutta Executive Education Alumni status.
